The MK2 is the louder, punchier battery alternative to the Bose L1 line. Column-array form factor, 1500W peak / 400W RMS, app-controlled mixer with DSP + dbx feedback suppression + Lexicon FX. Pro-DJ favourite when the villa party needs to actually push some volume — and you don’t have a mains socket nearby.
Slightly heavier than the Bose (~19kg total) but still one-person carry. The 5-channel mixer means a wired/wireless mic + controller + Bluetooth backup all fit in one box.
What the 5-channel mixer is actually for
This is the speaker to book when several things need to go into one box and nobody wants to run a separate mixer:
- A controller such as the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT, which is RCA-out only and needs a speaker that accepts line level.
- A wireless mic for speeches — the Sennheiser EW-D handheld, or the EW-D ME 2 lavalier for a ceremony where the speaker’s hands are busy.
- Bluetooth as the backup for the hour when nobody’s DJing.
When something else is better
- There is mains power and nobody has to carry it far — the Mackie Thump 215 pair reaches 129 dB from two 15-inch tops, and stereo across a lawn beats one loud column. Add the RCF SUB 705-AS MK3 and it’s a different category of rig.
- Looks matter more than volume — the Bose L1 Pro16 is slimmer, 180° across, and disappears into a terrace. It’s mains-only, which is the trade.
- Long, quiet days — 6 hours per battery is fine for a party but short for a full day. The LD Maui 5 GO runs 20 hours at lounge volume in the same column format, at 13kg.
- A whole weekend off-grid — pair it with an EcoFlow Delta 2 and hot-swapping stops being something you have to plan around.
