When something else is better
- The DJ wants platters that actually spin — the REV5’s jogs are large and CDJ-style but not motorised. If that’s the deal-breaker, the Pioneer DDJ-REV7 has motorised 7-inch platters and the same battle layout. It weighs 18kg against this one’s 6.2kg, so only go there if it’s a real requirement rather than a preference.
- Nobody’s bringing a laptop — the REV5 needs one. The Pioneer XDJ-RX3 runs standalone off a USB stick with a 10.1-inch screen, which suits a villa where the host wants a booth but no one wants to own the technical side.
- It’s a casual night and the budget matters — the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT gives you four channels for less, at the cost of the big jogs, the XLR output and DVS.
